So?
Japan is quite knowledgeable concerning stealth. The type 12, ASM-3 and so on goes through rigorous testing before going on as well as the enhanced type 12.
Japan is also the forerunner in material science, the key component to stealth.
Do you really think the engineers are just going to patch something up because they think it looks cool?

They are. Thus why the Type-12 looks the way it is, it is profitable.

But you seem to only value the low altitude flight. Which i havent address.

Patria makes nice vehicles. But it is kind of bonkers why Japan does not develop their own vehicle.
Japan makes the Type 16 MCV which has a powertrain of about same complexity.
Would be too expensive for the japanese, their in house products are prohibitively expensive (Type 10, etc.) So not only high R&D cost but also high per unit cost.

They do, there were two other candidates in the bid. Komatsu and Mitsubishi.

Komatsu make this thing :

Mitsubishi make MAV which seems to be based on type-16

But well, seems cost plays. Patria could offer competitive pricing as te company have over 1000+ Patria manufactured.

AMV can use different type truck engines and other civilian components for automotive parts so spare parts can be found cheaply and easily. Japan shouldn't find difficulties in using their own components when making AMVs.
