I wonder, will Izumo this year go in refit to build a ski-jump and prepare for F-35B?
Already in the dry dock.

There will be a difference in modifications between two ships of the Izumo class. Those ships undergo major refits every 5 years. Izumo entered the JMU shipyard this year so that the first stage of refit will be completed by the end of the fiscal year. The final stage will happen in 2024 after the next visit in the shipyard for major overhaul. In case of Kaga all the necessary works will be carried out in one fiscal year and will start next year. A somewhat complicated schema but there's no need to rush things I suppose. Training of pilots etc will take some time as well.
