I just ordered my 1/350 scale JS Akizuki, DD-115, JMSDF destroyer.

She is going to be a beauty.

Here are some pics of what the finished prduct will look like...I will have a thread on her as I build it.

This is a resin and metal model so it is more expensive...but I have been saving my pennies. LOL!

She will round out my JMSDF group consisting of the:

JS Hyuga DDH-181
JS Atago DDG-177
JS Kongo DDG-173
JS Akizuki DD_115
JS Takanami DD-110

Here is an interesting thread from another forum.

The information discussed is very interesting and informing. For example GaN chips used on the FCS-3 is going to be transferred to the US to be adopted on to the AN/SPY-1 for the AEGIS system to enhance ABM capabilities and Japan had also authorized it so it can be exported to other allies.

(doesn't say anything about Japan though)

If you read between the lines you'll quickly notice that;

1. it is an article written by Raytheon
2. The article completely fails to mention anything about AN/SPY-1.

AN/SPY-1 is a product of Lockheed Martin, not Raytheon so they would never mention it within their paid publicity editorial tie-up article.

Within the link I provided states;

Japan agrees to Aegis tech transfer, re-export
Jon Grevatt, Bangkok - IHS Jane's Defence Weekly
24 July 2015

The government of Japan agreed on 23 July to transfer to the United States software and components that will be installed on international versions of the Lockheed Martin-developed Aegis combat system.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) in Tokyo said that the approval enables the items to be exported to a third country following their transfer to Lockheed Martin. In addition to the United States, existing operators of the Aegis combat system include Australia, Japan, Norway, South Korea, and Spain.

The MoD added that the decision was made by the National Security Council in response to a request from the US Department of Defense for Japanese industry to participate in the production programme.
