I have talked with some of my Japanese friends, many of them don't even think the rare earth shortage impact will get too much into everyday life, if shit hits the fan then they will accept the situation as is.

BTW cheaper one are made in Korea, half the price than made in Japan.

These special prices are for existing customer, they have stopped accepting new customer/business owners' orders. I tried personally calling one ultra-hard material supplier, they told me "We must maintain the limited supplies for existing customer, so it is not possible in the foreseeable future to accept new order or deliver any kinds of products to you"

I think most of the suppliers can't even start the production line just like this company I mentioned in an earlier post.

Central Union of Japan Agricultural Co-operatives (JA全中), the only monopoly of basically all Japanese agricultural activities including supply or lease necessary tools and equipment for farmers, announced today that "we cannot procure enough greenhouse cover and other stuff in some areas".

On the other hand, Japan Meteorological Agency just announced a super El Niño this summer, in Japan this mainly leads to poor agricultural harvests due to cool summers and insufficient sunshine, while overseas it results in reduced yields in major grain-producing regions due to droughts and heavy rains. And don't forget synthetic fertilizer has been surging for weeks.
