Well J-35 is not exactly using stock RD93MA is it? If we know electric power generation is an issue the design team surely does, too, and I imagine when designing / modifying the engines they will take that into consideration and up the power generation capacity.

wet thrust of single unit is 95kn-100kn.

A few days ago, someone said Shenyang is finishing up a J-35 assembly by end of year 2022. Now we are in 2023, anyone knows if the assembly is finished?

It was an assembly of a single plane over a period of 40 or 41 days. Presumably for a serial production version but this wasn’t mentioned.

I can imagine there being several assembly facilities put into operation if this pilot assembly is finished successfully, around February.

With such light resources needed for assembly it could easily be done abroad.

A team of 40-odd people should be able to assemble 8 J-35 a year, initially.

With such light resources needed for assembly it could easily be done abroad. Please clarify what you mean? Do you imply China does not have the resources and people to do the assembly work and have to source it overseas??

No, I was considering the possibility of the export version being assembled abroad.

If the J-35 is more assembled, than it is produced, it should be quite easy to “build”. If you get my drift.

The fact that it seems not very time consuming to put one together to me makes the possibility of local production, including transfer of ‘assembly’ technology, in other countries more likely.

I also think it makes it more likely that smaller countries can afford to set up an assembly line. Let’s say you are Algeria, it’s a bit much to put in a full J-35 production line for their needs, but an assembly room, producing 8 a year, would fit very nicely.
