Oh come on!
... the WS-15 is for the J-20 and as such a too large and too heavy engine that currently uses a WS-13/RD-93-sized powerplant and again: THERE WON'T be a VSTOL type based on the J-35, to even consider that as doable is laughable.

Nope.
J-35s would ultimately be powered by WS-19.
WS-13 (if my memory serves me right) that are currently powering the J-35 prototypes were only meant for stopgap measure, just like how WS-10 being a stopgap measure for the J-20s before WS-15 production capacity fully kicks in.

There might be a possibility of an unmanned variant.
Might seem wasteful at first glance, but I think that may be the only realistic scenario where J35 production volumes might be boosted enough to bring unit price down to make the whole thing worthwhile for the PLAAF.
In which case the PLAAF would be ditching the dark sword loyal wingman and rolling that into the J21/35 programme.
So, that may lead to a combined order of 1000+ airframes, with 200 manned version each to the PLAAF and PLAN, plus another 300 each of the unmanned version. Throw in a few hundred more export variants and that’s going to be the most produced fighter in Chinese aviation history.

Come on, most "military" videos are click bait for monetization, especially ones that have generic or robot voice or heavy metal music. Even some that but effort into it are just fanboys that repeat what they see in wiki or other fanboy forums so they have a lot of truths to hide their nonsense/fake/fanboy dreams. The only pla news worth watching is prob the official cctv one.
I'm thinking of applying such VTOL technologies onto combat drones would be more likely.
Designing and producing VTOL combat drones would be less demanding and challenging than, say, F-35Bs, since the risk of accidents with personel onboard is eliminated. Moreover, the removal of pilot alongside the piloting equipment and supporting systems would signficantly lighten the combat drone. This is very useful for increasing weight allocation for more weapon loadouts and fuel onboard such combat drones.
Besides, with the US showcasing how VTOL technology isn't just possible, but also achievable (despite being pretty difficult), China certainly has the capability to develop her own VTOL-based combat drones (or fighter jets). In fact, I would say that the US has always been an excellent teacher for China.
Such VTOL combat drones would be very useful when operated from Type 075 LHDs and Type 076 LHAs in a Taiwan and/or South China Sea contigency, as they could operate as light aircraft carriers alongside mainline Type 00X aircraft carriers, and/or for striking land-based enemies.
The recently conducted concept test for an LHA/LHD-based light aircraft carrier by fitting and operating 20 F-35Bs onboard USS Tripoli has demonstrated just that. The nearly-commissioned TCG Anadolu light carrier further enforces such drone-carrier concepts as well.
