Re: J-xx

about the picture of J-xx flying at tree top level, which are dismiss as p.s.
But back in 2004 ,a picture of small 1/72 (?) twin engine fighter undergoing test in wind tunnel (in xian?)appear in kanwa.
the model is near identical to the photo appear last week, except it do not possess forward canard, while the model appear in the magazine has leading edge extention.

Re: J-xx

Well, AVIC has shown F22 like wind tunnel model pictures taken in the 90s. I've posted F35 shape wind tunnel pictures. I even saw LCA like wind tunnel pictures.:)

Re: J-xx

all the picture may originally taken in mid or late 90's, not until during 2004 zhuhai airshow that it was officially release.
according to technical magazine, the so called "Chinese f-22" will be power by WS-13 (RD-33) the aircraft more like demonstrator aircraft.

Re: J-xx

It is my understanding that the "JXX will be more cost efficient than the F-35 and posses unique attributes that' sets it apart from all contemporaries" (paraphrase military official on CCTV 中央电视台的 although he said 'advanced fighter' instead of JXX and 'primary competition prototype' instead of F35. I also have heard from a reliable source (associate I know within PLA Academy of Military Sciences) that it will utilize a state-of-the-art ionized gas (plasma) coating or 'paint'. This would be the first aircraft to truly utilize this unique property.

Conjures up images of the fabled 'Red Mercury' (not the ballotechnic but the other one about the stealth.) I am not one to wax conspiracy but there is something in the works here that may surprise many of us.

Re: J-xx

Perhaps I was not specific enough. Allow me to rephrase that. The paint itself would not be plasma per se but would itself be generated on the panels or 'skin' of an aircraft that was conducive to the process. This coating or enhancement to the surface would be the catalyst through which the ionization and ultimately the low RCS would be obtained.

Re: J-xx

where's balance?

He started a point on SAT based radar; I am still waiting for him to expand on it, cause it's an interesting point, very hot in some chinese forums.

Re: J-xx

Expand on it? I am Chinese and know several people in military science and PLA and I can't find anything out. Given the guarded nature of this project I would seriously question anyone on this forum knows a single thing about it.

I mean sure HJ-1C was the name given to it but we've all known this for years, and I question if it even matters. Sure Russia may export some RORSAT technology even to speed it up. The point is what happens in the CMC stays in the CMC. We have a phrase here, No water, No wave and the sea of this question looks ever calmer.

It was my sincere hope that this forum progressed beyond blind speculation but there are always just a few isolated cases I hope...

no way that they heaveyweight fighter j-xx will be powered by 2 ws-13 it simply doesnt have enough thrust...not even the al-31 would be sufficient enough....maybe uprated ws-10a hopefully 2d tvc

ionized gas coating-isn't that same technology that produced "non-stick" fry pan ?
the ionized gas coating are being applied in frontal fan blade, since fan intake generate a lot RF "echo".
boeing XF-36 fan intake uses similiar coating to reduced her RCS.
