So what does this refer to then? Considering you posted it just under a pic of a J-35 with a number that could be 81? With part of the 8 obscured.

It is indeed number 81 but not the 81st J-35 … It’s quite common that the PLA dies not their numbers starting always with 01

Does it mean batch 0? And batch 0 being prototype?
It also has number 3506 as well.

Yes & no, it is prototype no. 06 aka 350006 or 3506.

For the serial or LRIP Aircraft, they usually habe a (rarely visible) construction number and an individual bort number. Those known on J-35 are 80, 81, 82 & 93
