Based on pages on this thread, the number of J20 in 20s , i like to ask manqiangrexue why the number is not so high. China has alot of STEM and money. Is j20 or j31 more important?

I closed the semiconductor thread for a reason to prevent continued personal back and forths to give you guys some time to cool down. Do not continue it here or on other threads.

If you continue there will be a warning ban.

No one knows how many j20s there are or the production rate. Not even the designers knows anymore. Most people in avic don't even know.

Lol you have a pilot's license so knows everything about every plane huh? My wife's stepdad also got a pilot's license so he can fly his planes... He knows squat about jet fighters and don't care.

Last I checked, people in 611, the designers don't even know how many been produced exactly. There are improvement projects coming.

To make a calculated guess, note that the first flight of PLAAF service J20 was on 2016 January. Meaning they would have started building this particular aircraft in 2015.

Thus for 4 years plus a few months, one can estimate the numbers built. If on average they built as low as 6** a year to 12 a year, the number would be from 24 to 48 or more. However, what is the actual number is anyone's guess, so take it with a big grain of salt.

** From Huitong:-
The first batch of 6 J-20 stealth fighter started to enter the service with PLAAF Dingxin Flight Test & Training Base in December 2016, 5 years after its maiden flight. More J-20s are being produced for multiple PLAAF unites.

I think China made a mistake by prioritizing j20 over j31. US has no interest in going into mainland airspace and plenty of interest in South China Sea. The few number of J20 probably gonna sitting in rust in mainland seeing no actions other than some training.

All the while, China has no answer for US F35 on carrier or amphibious ship and its creating trouble in South China sea.

On top of that J31 is better option as carrier fighter.
On top of that J31 can be used for mainland air defense.
On top of that J31 can change geopolitics by exporting.

Many reasons J31 much more important than J21.
Looks like China screwed up again.

If what you are saying is true, the US would have prioritized F-35 over F-22. Which means F-35 would see service before F-22 did.

Pls read my post carefully.
I clearly said China chief adversary US is much more interested in South China Sea not mainland. US situation is different

Wth are you talking about? The mission requirements for j20 and fc31 are completely different. J20 is designed to the goals and requirements determined by the central military committee. It's gone through 3 iterations before this current design was set. J31 is a private venture by 601, that's why it's not funded.

Don't tell me you are a pilot so you know how j20 is designed.

The plane actually exceeded what the original design requirements asked for.
