So I guess rumors that it’s already flown were wrong? Or is this final integration for the J-20?

Original phrasing was 全状态试飞 or test flight of the "complete form". Implication is that this will be a prototype for production J-20 variant (J-20B?).

I don't know where the rumors of J-20 test flying with WS-15 came from. I've only heard rumors of it test flying with WS-10 TVC.

I think the original rumor was the WS-15 was test flown on a J-11, but it was one of those really elusive ones, so I didn’t put much stock to it. If they’re going straight to integration testing with a prototype J-20 iteration that might imply they’ve already flown the engine extensively. Next question on my mind is whether they’ve already developed the FCS for the TVC or if that’s what the purpose of this prototype is for (if the engine has TVC and if this news is real).

I think it would first be tested on a flying testbed like this.

They have two dedicated Il-76 flying testbeds where one of the engines is replaced with test engines (used to test WS-10 back in the day, as well as more recently WS-20 and also WS-18).

In the case of WS-15, it is an open question whether the development of the engine would require it to be tested on an Il-76 flying testbed as its first flying test platform, or whether its first flying test platform would be something like a Flanker instead.
