The above #121 photo was published on the PLA News. According to the story, the pilot Cao Xian Jian was crashed and seriously injured during a routine training from CV-16 on 2016/04/06. After 419 days and multiple surgeries, he was qualified as the J-15 pilot again on 2017/05/30.
(didn't mention which J-15 was lost then)

Glad to see CCP is now reporting serious accidents and/or losses. There was a time they hid or downplayed bad news from the public. Kudos for the CCP.

Has China replaced the aircraft lost ?

Production line is open so shouldn't be a problem

I believe they are currently manufacturing the J-16, but as Master Delft has well stated, its "batch production", I believe they will convert back to the J-15 in the near future to fill 001A?

I would anticipate at least 12 aircraft, possibly 24 to 36.

They will not renumber one as the lost aircraft, that usually only happens to "mask" those losses, as when the USAF lost 2 Rivet Yards, MC-130E's in SEA, and took the two clean birds with no serials and reserialized them as the two lost birds, but that was a "very black project", now on wiki, but previously very top secret, I only knew because my Dad flew the "yards" in SEA.

Have you got any proof that Chinese Govt (since let say 1980) didn't report any serious accidents? .. or just from your "hatred" biased wild imaginations ? :mad:

You can considered up to 50 J-16 yet build and right now the need is for 50 J-15 + some others for 2 CAW

Before when J-11B/BS in FRP were built their annual number was 24/year for a Rgt.

The latest rumor (April 2017) suggested that the production of J-15 will end after 3 batches of 24 units for the Type 001 aircraft carrier. It is expected to be followed by the improved J-15B (?) which will feature a new AESA radar developed by the 607 Institute.

They do have a PLAN! to produce more J-15s, and at some point they will begin producing CATOBAR J-15s as China's CATOBAR carriers move into the yards. It will really only involve the nose gear strut and launch bar, but I would imagine they will do some serious engineering studies to investigate the stress of catapult launches, as neither the soviets nor the Chinese have launched an aircraft off a CAT.
