It was talked about some pages back.

Apparently one of the J-15s crashed with the loss of the pilot.

It was mentioned on this thread that it was 117...which had been seen on the carrier.

There is rumor about 117 was actually pushed back down to the runway by the ejection and only took minor damage. And it was never officially confirmed that the plane is "lost". I firstly thought it was just rumors until later I saw an interview of a PLA test pilot and he talked about the dead pilot "saved the aircraft". The specific phrasing is a bit ambiguous though so take it with a grain of salt.

Well, if the aircraft was saved, and is repaired by the PLAN, I suppose we will see it again sometime.

That would be good news for the aircraft...but still mourn the loss of life of the pilot.

How is it possible that the pilot died while the aircraft survived? what happened?

I am not sure exactly what happened.

He could have brought the aircraft in and avoided buildings and residential places and tried to have it comi in flat to a field...and then ejected at the last and been killed because his chute did not open, or it opened too late to slow him down.

There are several things that could have produced such results.

I am still not sure what happened. I am just responding to the one poster based on what he indicated he had heard.

The aircraft's flight control went bonkers and went nose up while the plane was landing on the runway, probably reach close to 90 degrees. Pilot ejected at a bad angle and died. Guess the ejection push the nose of the plane back down

The incident was describe on a CCTV show and the show is available on YouTube

Next four posts...more pilot qualification on the Liaoning. Given the film it was taken from, and the amount show, I would say this is initial onboard aircraft qualifications. Take-off, flying in the air space around the carrier and following take-off and landing pattern instructions. Landing, and maneuvering on deck.

I think the pics are pretty self explanatory taken from the first post to the fourth one.
