J-10 Thread IV

Chengdu's manufacturing I think is a step above Shenyang's. At least when it comes to surface finishing. The J-10A is about the same level of surface as J-16 when comparing relatively equally used frames - youngest J-10A vs oldest J-16. The J-16 is well behind that of the J-10C.
I would beg to differ with regard to J-16's surface finishing being inferior to that of J-10C, if you check high-res photos of J-16s (e.g. during the airshow in Changchun in 2019) it looks just about as good as J-10C to me...

Would be great of we can get high-res pictures for both plane side-by-side for comparison. Based on my quick search from google, the surface finishing of J-16 is decent, but it was just my quick view of some not so high-res pics.

I will not bore you gentlemen by attaching pointless and pedantic trivia to my image posts, which does nothing but clog up precious screen real estate and induce drowsiness.

  • Tehran is said to be interested in buying 36 of the advanced Chinese fighter jets but finding the cash could be difficult
  • Military analysts say now is not the time to exchange weapons for oil but believe Beijing is considering the move
There have been various rumours that Iran has been considering to buy the J-10.

“The key problem is Iran can’t pay dollars or euros in cash to China, they prefer using oil and natural gas to exchange weapons,” said Zhou Chenming, a researcher with the Yuan Wang think tank, a Beijing-based military science and technology institute. “However, China has accumulated too much energy reserves… business is business, all arms deals want to make money. It’s impossible for China to get a bad bargain.”
China wants to be paid by hard currency and not by energy resources. "Business is business"

An earlier report from online media platform Sina News said Iran might buy 36 Chinese fighter jets using half of the US$3 billion in financial help from Qatar. The money was offered by the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani when he met Iranian President Hassan Rowhani in Tehran in January last year.

“China can offer two options, the less advanced FC-1 Xiaolong fighter, and the more advanced J-10C, both are lightweight fighter jets that are cheaper than the Russian aircraft,” Song said.
Chinese options are FC-1 and J10C (J-10CE?). IMO Iran might consider the FC-1 due to its connection to Pakistan, maybe to draw closer to them?

“China doesn’t have an obligation to give Iran free arms. Indeed, Beijing needs to consider what the US and Israel would think if Beijing offered Tehran a cheaper arms deal.”
^^ This might be the sticking point. China has good relations with Israel and the other Arab States, I dont know how they will react when they realise that China is actively arming Iran. Tough job for the Chinese diplomats

Does Minnie Chan actually work for the CIA?

how would China not want resources in return for arms?
is she trying to get energy sanctions placed on China?

Its on the article
"However, China has accumulated too much energy reserves"
This is plausible. I am following economic news and it seems that China has stopped its frantic energy purchases because its storages facilities are now full

The problem is maybe Iran wants to buy using oil value of today rather than value based on yuan/dollar. If Iran wants to pay 1 million barrel of oil today for a j-10, by the time of the transaction, oil price may have fallen. But on the other hand, Minnie Chan could just be making up a story to get paid.
