Chinese have clearly improved the skin of their aircrafts in the past 20 years. They are so clean right now compared to first batch of j-11. The j-10a was already better, but now they are so silky looking beasts.

Chengdu's manufacturing I think is a step above Shenyang's. At least when it comes to surface finishing. The J-10A is about the same level of surface as J-16 when comparing relatively equally used frames - youngest J-10A vs oldest J-16. The J-16 is well behind that of the J-10C.
