IMO unlikely and even more, what makes you believe that Pakistan "is going to operate at least 100+ fighters" (I assume you suggest J-10?)?? The ordered 20 and contrary to many claims, only these 20 were delivered yet.
Sorry, yes I specifically meant the J-10C only. Also my assumption is over the long-term given PAF's history, it usually invests in at least around 80+ number of that aircraft. I'm aware that as of now that many have not been ordered.

Are we likely to see a J-10D variant be made? If Pakistan is going to operate at least 100+ fighters and other countries also buy them, to keep it competitive, is it likely China gives it an upgrade?

Maybe something like wingtip hardpoints and greater payload capacity.

If someone wants to shell out money for the customization I don’t see why not. No chance PLAAF will invest in it though.

Take with mountain of salt but based on posts from our sister forum, AVIC is pushing J-10C sales in Indonesia.
Indonesia has officially ordered a total of 42 Rafale fighter jets from France, but has not yet received all of them. The first six Rafales are expected to be delivered to Indonesia in February 2026..

so this is the perfect time to pitch J-10C.. they can cancel or maybe reduce Rafale orders. but AVIC has to convince them.

Nobody's gonna wanna do both types (Indian acquisition of a hodgepodge of random foriegn aircraft is the joke of the aviation world) although we can do a trade-in and get a couple of Rafales to play with...

Is this even legally possible or in fact cancelling a contract right before delivery would probably incur a big sum of fine
