J-10 Thread IV

It is the other way around-Saab Viggen looks like J-9. The J-9 was there first.

Wasn't trying to say anything more than that they look alike. Now that you brought it up though I don't know the exact dates but I thought the Viggen got off the drawing board, as in an actual aircraft, earlier in the 1960's while the J-9 did so in the 1970's.

Strictly speaking, the Viggen predated the J-9 project but the J-9 was nonetheless a purely indigenous program. Additionally, the J-9 wasn't really a design and more an effort. Over the course of the J-9 project's existence, it functioned more as a delta-canard research division within SAC and later CAC. In this way, direct comparisons between the J-9 and other aircraft designs are not quite valid.

There was some quotes about a test pilot saying J10's max speed ever recorded is 1450km/hr or so. Faster than that the jet will dismantle. Assuming it is not hear the sea level but should still be quite low. Any discussions/comments?

Higher unlikely to be true. Even JF-17 can surpass those speeds at altitude. So many platforms can. The onus of proof is on the maker of the statement.
