Period of military innovation in Iran
Defense Minister Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Ashtiani contributed to the presentation of the second prototype of the Yassin trainer aircraft, also announcing the launch of the production line.
It also adds that:
"The trainer aircraft's internal characteristics allow it to be used for Close Air Support (CAS)"

Is that engine legit entering serial production ?

If they managed to get the thing produced, that will allow Iran a much wider options of application, some of which are :
-Large cruise missile in the same manner as Russian P-35 Progress
-Engining the Shahed-191
-Export
-Aeroderiviative marine powerplant for their Fast attack craft or Corvette.
-Turbofan engine deriviative.

Iranians report turbofect "OWJ" is in serial production. However it is not the only product in the aviation engine developer, they presented a Jahesh -700 turbofan engine (700 Kg)

which could be suitable for the Shahed-191, or for a small work plane in twin-engine configuration. Everything else is possible, but I have only unconfirmed hypotheses.

Why not build more of their F-5 at this rate...it use the same engine with afterburner. Still nice to see a new plane but it's clearly not overachievement... The trainer is probably more easy on the recruits, than an F-5.

wow i knew iran is fairly industrialized with decent technological know-how, but to be able to build their own jet-engine? that is impressive.
