That third image... Whenever an Army or PAP squad is the subject, they often do this ISIS pose. I'm almost certain that official Chinese military photographers are required to follow strict guidelines on how to compose an image, which require them to direct the poor soldiers to utterly idiotic poses. In addition to the ISIS pose, there is the obligatory leaping rabbit pose, the shouting man pose, the blurred motion men pose, etc. It's almost as if they're trying to sabotage morale and recruitment. The same goes for photographing naval and air force assets. Just extremely strange angles, compositions, and color profiles being repeated over and over again. Utterly bizarre.

End off-topic rant.

It's a relatively low effort way of trying to make a picture look interesting or dramatic, by someone not paid enough to think about what constitutes good taste and poor taste.

By the time they have money enough to spare to pay someone a bit more for that, I suspect other more pressing proper military requirements would have been mostly fulfilled.

I wonder if this is simply pandering to the what the public wants?

Example, portrayal of PLA operators in China movies tend to be lots of emotional shouting. Western operators tend to be protrayed as calmer, cool at all times. In the past, western SOF was all spray and pray and shouting but it seems that either taste has evolved or the narrative is being changed.

Maybe the Chinese narrative will "catch up" and be more refined or maybe it won't because this is what they want ...

But I do agree that at the higher level where there is better budgets and outside art direction, eg. recruitment videos which have commercial input, those seem to be done by agencies that have the license to go off script. Some of the recruitment videos I've seen are really top notch (eg. the 2018 one).
