it’s tube isn’t that much smaller. The two main systems for the US date back to either 2000 and the ANPVS14 or 2007 and the ENVG series both are about the same size. Although the ENVG is a little larger this is because it’s not just an NVG but pulling triple duty as a IIT, Uncooled Thermal imager and the latest models have the ability in the third gen to overlay point of aim from a sibling mounted on the infantry carbine. That uncooled imager demands a second sensor.
then you have the emerging ENVG-B system which has tubes that are the same size as the new Chinese one however the B meaning Binocular so two of them with a third centrally mounted thermal tube. Again the question is what you are getting in the package. Are we comparing an IPad to a classic Nokia?

I agree, that visor doesn’t look like a ballistic type. Also the muzzle of the weapon looks wrong for a live QBZ95. Airsoft type weapons are used by a number of nations for combat training in CQB drill. Airsoft being cheaper, Safer than live ammo and less likely to cause hearing damage than than simunitions. The trade off of course is lack of felt recoil and range.
Laser based training requires more time and money to set up but can farther add those back. Generally some mix of systems is used.
