Indian Brahmos deployment is to attack China dams at Tibet

Indians are very paranoid about China building any type of dams at Tibet. In any type war scenario, India wants to attack the dams at Tibet. And the Brahmos deployment upfront fits that objective. How should China defend against this threat. Establish multilevel air defense systems and to protect those dam assets.

Brahmo is over-rated .. similar to P-800 Oniks

Like I already said: unless India does not any stupid - aka very stupid - things (and an attack on a civil dam in Tibet would be such a stupid thing). China will neither wage a war nor start a war only due to a few Indian soldiers lost a few yards on Chinese territory.

As such, please leave these nasty warmongerings.

A dam would be thicker than a hardened bunker. If one Brahmos could break a dam, it would be an insignificant one like one built by beavers. Only idiots would think a Brahmos is more powerful than the wall of water pushing against or an earthquake that a modern dam is made to withstand. India would probably go bankrupt before making enough to break a dam. What's the range of a Brahmos? Only far enough to hit dams that flow into rivers that go to India? Isn't that equivalent to the joke of a Polish firing squad.

Brahmos for land-attack? Simple, create large RADAR decoys near the damns. Thats assuming landbased systems are unable to intercept it. There are plenty of systems from HQ-9 to LD-2000 that can try to intercept it. Now subsonic low-flying, terrain huging, stealthy cruise-missiles are for more dangerous since they have to be detected first. But if detected an LD-2000 like system can spray a lot metal in the general direction to bring it down.

I thought there were no major dams in Tibet, for the simple reason that India would rightfully protest and be in an uproar? Since essentially, it would put a significant portion of Indian fresh water supply under Chinese control. In that case, those dams would be a legitimate war time target, and India would rightfully throw everything they have at destroying those dams, even with the risk of flooding their own rivers: since the alternative would be risking having a significant source of their fresh water supply being cut off. If China did have dams in Tibet, then China would not even need to launch any sort of attack on India. China could just shut the hypothetical dams and defend them for two weeks before India capitulates.

Some Indian leaders may be reckless but they aren't stupid enough to escalate from a potential border skirmish to a full scale war.

Please stop with this fanboy wishful thinking!

Most water from the Tibetan plateau actually flows towards either China or SE Asia via Sichuan and Yunnan. The waters that do go towards India and Bangladesh do have some dams on them, none are 3 gorge sized. Ironically, brahmos is named after a river that is highly dammed on the Chinese side and China can definitely turn off the water. But most of the water is actually collected on the Indian side, the hamalysian plateau only contribute a minor amount, so it won't dry up NE India. Only put stress on their water system. Most of Indian farming is still dependent on monsoon.

If China really want to turn off the water, they need to fire up rain rockets before the monsoon hits India to dry them up. But that would just be fancifully impossible.
