China's gold mine at Arunachal border may become another flash point with India

BEIJING: China has begun large-scale mining operations on its side of the border with Arunachal Pradesh where a huge trove of gold, silver and other precious minerals valued at about US 60 billion has been found, a media report said today.

The mine project is being undertaken in Lhunze county under Chinese control adjacent to the Indian border, the Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post reported.

China claims Arunachal Pradesh as part of southern Tibet.

Projecting the mining operations as part of China's move to take over Arunachal Pradesh, the report said "people familiar with the project say the mines are part of an ambitious plan by Beijing to reclaim South Tibet".

More BS fear mongering reporting that is true to form for SCMP, the only reason it gets cited so much by the western media is because it either stupidity and/or duplicitously consistently paints China in the worst light in line with standard western reporting guidelines.

I would suggest people stop buying their trash rags, but somehow I doubt that would make much difference to their operations as I would not be surprised at all to find that foreign ‘advertising’ money is what really funds this paper.

CH4 & 5 has been successfully tested in Tibet and Qinghai plateau that is elevation of 4000 m
This sound like innocuous news but it is actually very important Now China has multiplying force on hand for surveillance, border guard and intelligence along LAC and if need be attacking fortifying position

Guys ... please calm down , all of you. If you want to discuss political and historical matters and especially start war-mongering you should better leave SDF and look for another forum.

@berserk

Calm down and I'm not sure if such posts are the best way to introduce yourself as a new member by name-calling and insulting nearly all other members.

Interesting, but not massively necessary since the range of those drones means they can take off from lower altitude airfields and still have plenty of time on station after they arrive.

Those drones forward deployed to Tibet would most likely be for rapid reaction recon missions, when you don’t want to wait several hours for a UCAV to get on station with a full weapons load.

lol Equation my comment was far less "inflammatory" (albeit an unnecessary response to an obvious flame bait post). So I don't think your comment has long here. Most reasonable folks would agree with your sentiments though.

I think this entire thread serves no purpose anymore and probably should be closed and only viewable for entertainment reasons (if one seeks out this sort of entertainment). New developments probably won't happen seeing as diplomatic efforts have almost completely released the tensions. At least media focus have shifted along. Any commenting will be political in nature and likely flaming for sensitive observers... like most of us here :p
