It looks like they have frozen Ted Hui and his family's bank avounts in Hong Kong.

Ted Hui has solicited a few millions HKD donations just weeks before he fled HK that I wouldn't be surprised he already siphoned a ton of money to other countries. By claiming that his bank accounts got frozen, Ted probably is looking for more donations from these same suckers again.

Hui told the Post that at least five bank accounts containing several million dollars and belonging to him, his wife and his parents – all of whom are also now in Britain – had been inaccessible since Saturday. The accounts were with at least two banks, one of which was HSBC.
HSBC learning from their mistakes and being a good little bitch; maybe China won't destroy them. Maybe.

What about this lot, particularly that despicable former leader of the Catholic church in Hong Kong who did much to poisoned the young minds in his education establishment.

I have said numerous times that Beijing has made huge mistakes when concerning HK between 1997 and 2019 because they did not interfere to safeguard mainland Chinese interests. The chickens have come home to roost starting with the small protests in 2014 and slowly but surely building up towards the mass unrest of 2019. They only implemented a national security law on 30 June 2020. Barely 5 months ago and only now we see some of the ringleaders (Agnes Chow, Joshua Wong, Jimmy Law) for several months behind bars. Only this year we see a willingness to reform the liberal lessons that those youngsters receive in HK schools. Only after a year of good upheaval are they willing to move to safeguard mainland Chinese interest in a small place on the mainland like HK. This does not send a good and pro-active signal. Inertia?

Exactly, but to be fair, China kept it's promise of no change for 50 years. The only mistake China's made is assuming the west would play fair and not intervene. Alas, no they been cooking up this scheme for decades, if not generations.

Anyway, the national security law? Although two decades late in my opinion, it's effective. Because it is the same law that every other western countries have (so they can't criticise too much, although they have tried).

And now look at the results, all these Hanjians getting locked up, or jumping bale. Lol

Beijing has so much to lose if HK2019 becomes another TS1989. They know that all the ruckus will eventually die down. PLA forces in HK streets will create much much worst international headlines.

That's true. But I think with hindsight, we are saying perhaps China should've said to hell with you, the west from the beginning, and implement national security law from the onset.

I mean where in the world, that a murder crime was committed in Taiwan, yet China or Hong Kong is powerless to do anything about it?

HSBC disappointed over distorted facts by the fugitive Ted Hui.

He said accounts frozen, then he said unfrozen... Either he was lying or HSBC.

And .. $3million raised through crowdfunding not frozen.

I think this whole group of people will have a lot to explain about what was the money raised for. How exactly the HK people who donated them feel right now? Donated him and his family to have good life abroad and left his underlings rot in jail?
