That's where you are wrong. These youngsters and their experience in peaceful protests would inspire thousands and millions of people all over the world to rise up against tyranny like the recent Portland riots. Correction, I mean peaceful protests in Portland.

Bleh they cant even swear in properly into parliament without kicking up a ruckus. The HK people gave them a chance, they threw it away.

Problem is they don't have a China next door to them. All they can do is what London is for. Or maybe their pitch is they're the UK's gateway to China... Love how this guy thinks Hong Kongers are a precious commodity that everyone wants. Five hundred thousand Hong Kongers in a city in a European country... I remember reading how Ireland had a very low murder rate. Then one day I read of a murder in Ireland. The victim was Asian. Maybe Connor McGregor can have a daily exercise routine of beating up Hong Kongers in the morning everyday.

I don't know how this guy has no shame to publicly attach his name to such a stupid, retrograde idea. He might as well propose a moon colony for HK "political refugees" (or maybe an underwater city like the aforementioned BioShock, lol).

An autonomous zone... So his idea to pursue democracy was to exclude a portion of the population from the existing democratic political structure? Furthermore, he did not see the irony in creating a Cantonese enclave in a majority English/Gaelic speaking country when one of the "HK Localist" complaints is encroachment of Mandarin as the lingua franca? Has he never spent a minute in a Chinatown somewhere and not heard some person say "This sign should be in English, this is AMERICA/CANADA/BRITAIN!"?

While sometimes people have racist intonations behind it, I don't think they are totally wrong to say people need to try to assimilate into the local culture.

Somehow, if a real disaster hits either of these two nations and really messes things up to the extreme, I don't think I am going to give much of a damn since the level of hypocrisy and the fact that so many agree with it is simply over the top. I think that the US hasn't even learnt a thing about honestly and righteousness so I think they are overdue for yet another disaster and hopefully this sticks because even now, they are still at it.

Oh, what a surprise. The Opposition candidates got banned from running, regardless of what they said in their letters to the HK government. So the letters really were just a formality, and it had already been decided to block them - beacuse they might win, and we can't have the pro-CCP establishment losing their majority in an open election, now can we? :D

This is another idiotic vanity trait that HK ‘localists’ share with white racial-supremacists - that they irrationally believe they are inherently ‘superior’ merely for being borne where they were.

HK is only relevant because of China.

In terms of trade, the west only use HK to access the mainland market; in terms of politics, HK traitors are only getting western support because hostile western powers want to weaken and damage China; in terms of finance HK is only important because it is a convenient meeting place between Chinese and westerners.

Everything that makes HK special is, at is core, directly related and dependent on China.

Without China, HK is nothing special and HKers who move out of HK is worse than the large numbers of existing Chinese ethnic migrants already in western countries.

If anyone is stupid enough to build a mini-HK in Europe, and the kinds of traitors that would be attracted by the Western immigration offers do move in, it won’t be long before that becomes a racially segregated ghetto much like the worst parts of American inner cities. With zero prospect; minimal and low level jobs; high crime rates and woeful public services.

I hope this project does go ahead and the HK rioters all move in ASAP. It can be their own, self-made concentration camp and serves as a monument to their stupidity and hubris.

@Mr T US wouldn’t allow terrorist group leadership run for office either

Terrorists would be in Guantanamo. Terrorist leaders would be bombed.

But terrorists working for you get support haha.

I was in HK and was afraid to speak mandarin with my family for fear of getting beat or stabbed. All because of these turds.

US wouldn’t allow Al Qaeda run for office either.

The HK Civic Party is Al-Qaeda now? Alvin Yeung is a sitting member of LegCo and even he's had his registration blocked by the HK government.

But they do allow closet KKK and Nazis?

There's no mention of criminal activity, suspected or proven, disbarring a person from running for office in the US.

But my guess is that an active member of the KKK or a neo-Nazi would struggle to get elected based on a decision of their constituents, as opposed to being stopped from participating in the election by the US government.

Also, fun fact, Sinn Fein - which was/is the political wing of the IRA - is not only a legal party in Northern Ireland and the UK, it's part of the Northern Ireland government despite the fact it advocates for Northern Ireland breaking away from the UK.

It also regularly contests national UK elections (and wins seats), despite the fact that they refuse to take the oath of allegience. They can't take the UK seats because they won't take the oath, but they're not stopped from running for office. They're also free to take the oath at any time and take their seats in Parliament. Their failure to take the oath at a time designated by the UK government doesn't invalidate them winning seats.
