Protesters appear unsure where to go next

From CNN's Helen Regan

Protesters now seem unsure where to go, after retreating from government headquarters where police fired tear gas and a water cannon. A large police presence has gathered on the roads nearby, and some protesters worried they may be hemmed in.

"There is no plan because police are all around," said one male protester decked out in riot gear. "If they come one way, we will run another way."

A police officer could be overheard speaking through a megaphone near where protesters have gathered on Queensway. "Leave immediately; this is an illegal protest," the officer said.

Huge police deployment sign of new zero tolerance

Analysis by CNN's James Griffiths

Hundreds of police officers in riot gear are on the streets of Admiralty, where tear gas and a water cannon have been used repeatedly against protesters throwing bricks and petrol bombs.

While tear gas has become a common sight in Hong Kong this summer, we haven't seen so many police officers on the streets in some time.

Wouldn't a brighter dye instead of blue be more effective in marking and identifying the rioters who are wearing black?

It’s not to dye their clothes, but their faces, hands and any other exposed skin.

Such dyes are usually used in ink bombs in bank cash runs and are pretty much impossible to wash off. You just have to wait for the skin cells to die and get replaced.

They probably just ordered a massive amount of the bank dye instead of getting a special new formula made.

I actually had a similar idea, but would have used commercial crop dusting drones instead of water cannon as delivery method.

The idea is that the police would arrest anyone with blue dye on sight. It doesn’t have to be during protests.

Things started to take shape, first refurbish the detaintion centre that can house over 5000 in-mates on an island to isolate the mob!

Now, Carrie Lam is NOT ruling out the emergency law that was introduced by the Colonial ruler back in 1967.

This emergency law, as stated in a MSM from OZ that I was reading, was that this law is draconian! Lol.

Yes, and the last country to use this is your very own colonial master to great effect I recalled!

I was just thinking, I don't think any of these guys ever heard of the Chinese exclusion clause. View attachment 53549

Waving those American flags and singing the US national anthem will only draw more contempt from people. The movement they started to chant for HK independence, was the moment I knew that this protest was deemed to fail because they lost all of their legitimacy and sympathy from the mainlanders. If they sticked with purely fighting for universal suffrage, then they might of actually gotten somewhere.

That's the problem with a leaderless movement. You can't really lose since you don't have a head to be cut off, but then there's no head for the other side to negotiate with, much less trust that any settlement will be implemented, so you probably won't win, either.
