also, tryout the new subway system in shenzhen, it's so cool and new.

go to Hainan,

, Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai...
I stayed in Shanghai for a week in July 2003 it was cool, after I got out of the airport we took the Maglev to the city the Maglev cost I think $10 USD
at most but most likely around 6-7 USD (I heard somewhere they dropped the price in 2004  ). Yeah, anyways to get to Pudong from the airport it took like around 8 minutes (it's like a 25 mile trip)!!! Only thing that sucked was it hit it's top speed for like 1 minute... :(
We went on the 东方明珠塔 (Oriental Pearl) which cost like 7-8 USD to get in, there's also a restauraut on the top. We also went on the 金茂大厦 (Jin Mao Tower) which is also 7-8 USD.
Either than that it was just to see the old temples and gardens, although I left my parents and went with my aunt to do a "little shopping". There's so much cheap stuff you can get there.
I'm going back this year and trying to convince my parents to let us stay up in the Jin Mao for a few days, then taking a cruise down the Yangtze (as a birthday present or family trip with my grandparents) and and going to Chengdu and then flying up to Xi'an (I'm staying there for like 3 weeks minimal because I was born there) and then Beijing.
My school doesn't get out till June 20th something but I want to see if I can leave at the end of May (after all my IB exams, then I would have no other exams) and come back in September.

i am sorry, so....you sound like...you are not chinese basicly....so what are you? korean? japanese? if you are not chinese, and you hold a say....US passport or canadain, just go to the embassy and say your relatives lost in china, and you are looking for them, so you seek help with chinese government. ia m sure they will be very happy to help you out since you are not chinese.
if he just want to travel, why would he say he's looking for a lost relative? it would just bring up all the unneccessary troubles with the government (they'll start to take it seriously and ask you all those infos)

you nkow...they just...cities...nothing really to see there.
well i guess it's because some of you did not live in china for a long time and want to see all the ancient chinese stuff. because for me, i already got bored of it (they're all kinda similar). i'd rather see some technology.

okay, that's very...strang when it came from a guy who is not in china....
i mean, what to see in shenzhen??? maybe you are from shenzhen, so you'd like them to go there? i myself from northeast, if you want to see some TECHNOLOGY, you should go to my hometown, to see who the steel industrial, the aerospace research center and stuff.... in shenzhen you only see...buildings buildings, and undless buildings...if you want to go see buildings, just go to NY....the only thing good about china is the acient stuff.
no offence, no hard feelings. my opinion. and ja, you are right about the looking part.

relax guys whats with all the paranoid stuff ? chill out ok
they are descendents of some of my relatives who lived in china before the revolution. i'm trying to trace them it's not like some propaganda hollywood movie ok ? my family is from pakistan ok so i don't think the chinese or pakistani governments are going to get worried. it's actually quite funny what happened they tried to contact us first unfortunately they sent a letter a few years ago to one of the most senile members of the family who thought the letter was from somebody trying to steal his land :) the rest of the relatives found out but he'd burnt the letter.

redguard which hometown ?

northeast, provience of liaoning. there is really nothing to see there, except the factories and some acient stuff only... dated like...200 years ago. mandurian palaces and graves...
ja, i normally check out this forum after i done my work in chinese forum. and in chinese forum we normally argue things pretty hushy, and people don't take it very seriously, but if anyone feels that i say things too hushy, forgive me, because i don't mean any harm to anyone.

The Shenzhen subway opened up late 2004.
And now they are also planning to connect it with the KCR (HK train), making it very verstaille.....

I've been to Hainan, and it was quite pretty in some places, more to the South. (But the road.......... Yulin is there though, but I think you need some sort of pass to get into the island.)

If you are really going to sail up the Yangtze, I wouldn't do it in the worst part of Summer......flooding season......

okay, that's a bias. just because it's china, you can't bribe anyone. mostly, soldiers won't get bribed. besides, there are tones of those photos floating around in my forum. why don't you just try out there?
