What an impressive sight; A H-6K loaded with four YJ-12 AShM.

What visual element in that image proves it's a PLAAF's plane? Is there a chance it could be a PLANAF's plane? One would imagine that the outermost pylons on naval H6J are optional, and can be removed, if the mission doesn't call for jammer pods.

Indeed that could be an explanation but otherwise I think this is a PLAAF emblem and not from the PLAN?!

Arent those badges very similar? The only real distinguishing feature would be the fact PLAAF has the lower half of the background in pure blue color while the PLANAF has blue stripes, with white stripes in between. At such poor resolution that we have - the image might be depicting either.

Images of H-6J at an airbase in Southern Theater Command. Rough translation: "At an airfield in Southern Theater Command, students from Naval Aviation University are currently participating in training missions. Young cadets successfully completed solo missions from this unfamiliar airfield..."

Is there any talk, or news about converting some of the older H6 variants into tankers?
Would be a good use of existing airframe life.
