That’s because it’s an image of a CG model overlayed onto the original photo of the real model.

What do you mean legitimate? It is a model in a show room. Besides you can google for it and get different versions of the same photo and do comparison yourself.

5 minutes had passed when I realised couldn't edit anymore. But anyway lets leave that at that. But with something similar to a larger stealth SU-34 seems really niche, I can't decide whether it would be worth spending all that time and money on developing something like this.

First of all, we don't know if the project is still alive or not. Maybe PLAAF feels the same as you do, dropped it.
Second of all, any air force need a fighter bomber (bomb truck), the flankers and JH-7 will be in that role with J-20 being the fighter. Sooner or later, flankers and JH-7 will be retired. The replacement will certainly incorporate stealth (the future basic). So it will be a stealth JH. Why should it be bigger than Su-34? Simple, being stealthy means large internal volume (bigger size) for the same delivery capacity as Su-34.
