Actually, i am writing a proposal to elon musk, about starting this EUV project in China. Right now he having a lot of fun at Shanghai, dancing around in front of media as model3 and soon modelY come out. US subsidies dried out and elon is an opportunist and headed to China secure big loan for his gigafactory at China. Elon background is a scientist, engineer, entrepreneur and visionary. I try to convince him China needs this EUV lithography tech and product as now unavailable due restriction. He will have to build everything from ground up with no foreign tech whatsoever. He's a big dreamer into space, Mars and sending Tesla car into space. He might take up my proposal.
After reading your posts in the last few pages, I would be very surprise if any companies including Elin would answer your requests or questions. Nothing personal here.

He is and he's not crazy. He's not writing to say he's a pedo. It could give Musk some thought and if he's seriously interested down the road, he might make it his next project, especially if it involves something novel.

On the other hand, I prefer China pursue the project without foreign partners so that it has sole ownership of the success.

Some news from SMIC. The production of 14nm will ramp up significantly from initial start at 2019. Near end of 2020, production volume will increased to 400%.

Going forward, SMIC will have N+1, N+2. This is with non EUV system.
N+1 could be 10nm and N+2 could 7nm using multipattern technique like TSMC first gen 7nm.

If ASML refuse EUV to SMiC. Then SMIC needs to stockpile and add more the most advanced traditional optical lithography equipments.

The battle against US could get more ugly.more disruption could be ahead.

China at least need to stockpile enough tools to guarantee 14nm to 7nm for long while till they can come up EuV of their own

From what I knew before hearing all the pessimism in this thread, China is making amazing gains in general in the semiconductor industry, to the point where maybe catchup with US by 2030.

Am I mistaken?

Finally Hisilicon is branching away from Huawei. Newly formed Hisilicon Shanghai starting to sell 4g chips to outsiders.

If Huawei going down at least want Hisilicon to survive . I posted threads in other forum that Huawei and Hisilicon need to diversify and branch out.

I would like to see Hisilicon do all kinds of chips not just for telecommunication, video.

From what I knew before hearing all the pessimism in this thread, China is making amazing gains in general in the semiconductor industry, to the point where maybe catchup with US by 2030.

Am I mistaken?

Yes and No. Huawei may lose its 5g leadership due to restriction but at same time China become more independent overall.
