A thing to know La Fayette will be modernized with especially a sonar presumably TL also don' t have right now !!! but hangar modified for NH-90 ? actually she and G Leygues can use only Lynx hangar so small fotr the NH-90 then Dady Lynx remains very usefull.

French Navy Orders Four BSAH OPV from PIRIOU & DCNS Joint Company KERSHIP

The French Defence Procurement Agency (DGA) has selected the joint bid from PIRIOU and DCNS (KERSHIP) for the supply of four Offshore Patrol Vessels for the French Navy (Marine Nationale) BSAH program (Bâtiments de Soutien et d’Assistance Hauturiers or offshore support and assistance vessels). The contract includes associated maintenance as well. KERSHIP, a joint venture created by the two naval partners, will act as prime contractor for this program which includes two firm vessels and two optional.

BSAH will be able to accommodate divers, to carry weapons and ammunitions, to support submarines and surface ships, to tow underwater antennas, as well as to deploy a pollution control dam.

French Navy Creates a Seventh "Commando Marine" / Special Forces Unit Named "Ponchardier"

The French Ministry of Defence announced that defence minister Le Drian will lead the inauguration ceremony for the creation of a new "Commando Marine" (Navy Commando) unit on September 11 2015. According to the French Navy, this new special forces unit will be specialized in special operations support. In other words it will be some kind of "logistics" commando.

French Navy Falcon 50M Maritime Surveillance Aircraft Deployed Beyond Arctic Circle
The French Navy announced that from August 26 to September 1st, a Dassault Falcon 50M Maritime Surveillance Aircraft belonging to Flottille 24F was deployed to Kangerlussuaq in western Greenland with a Royal Danish Air Force Bombardier Challenger CL-604. This deployement was a first for the French Navy naval aviation.

Finally, the Falcon 50M landed for the first time on the the United States Air Force's northernmost base in Thule in the north of Greenland, to refuel before returning to Kangerlussuaq.

Very much worth watching. I do not particularly like Jimmy Kimmel or a lot of his innuendo...but I have to say, this was a stand up thing he did. And, the details of the story, tat you may not have heard before, are simply amazing. As I say, this is worth watching.
