Some highlights:

After the first minutes of combat, it turns out that the result is severe, and this is what the report underlines. In fact, within fifteen minutes of combat, two frigates were sunk and two more were neutralized. 200 to 400 sailors were put out of action, killed or missing. But the result was even worse at the end of the exercise, with a total of eight ships sunk or out of combat.
...
Simulations carried out by the Navy and the DGA in the field of anti-surface warfare show that stealth, so much vaunted by the British, cannot by itself make a real difference in naval combat. The stealthy anti-ship missile is indeed detectable as soon as it passes the horizon, even low over the water. High speed and maneuverability, on the other hand, are far more credible factors for operational superiority and lethality.

That is interesting.

I've always thought that LRASMs were useless and it looks like the French agree.

And we see that the Chinese Navy hasn't developed a LRASM counterpart despite having the capability to do so. Instead the Chinese went with supersonic/hypersonic missiles.

The Russians also went that way long ago. That said, PLAN is AFAIK still developing and fielding YJ83 models, which still have a role to play against less defended targets and can add volume to an attack attempting to overwhelm defences by sheer numbers.

cheaper, lighter, smaller missiles have its own importance just like smaller drones. Since French dont have high speed missiles for wider tactical deployment they want to highlight its importance to attract funds and manpower. France by itself is very limited talent country too many engineering projects can lead to cost overruns and failures.
There is always combined deployment of Oniks-M (Bation) and Uran (Bal) in nearly every region all the way to Kurils.. the ranges are of both are now increased to nearly identical 800km/500km+.
saturated attack per sortie or per volley capability. slow/ high speed combination with AI for high g maneuvering.

Some fantastic photos of Mirage 2000C in commemorative livery on the eve of its retirement from the French Air Force:

Such a sexy machine.

In a similar "old school" frame of mind, I recommend folks check out the 'Wild Fly' series of videos uploaded to Youtube some 15 years ago showing Mirage F1s and 2000s flying low over Chad and Morocco. Low resolution and questionable soundtracks, but crazy flying! Here is one such video:

Sorry for asking this question, but I just noticed that the French Mirage looks a lot like the Indian Tejas fighter plane. Is the Mirage then the inspired design for the Tejas?
