English is the lingua franca of the Indian subcontinent. Hindi is only spoken by 43% of the Indian population as the first language.
but then isn't this whole united india hindu nationism idea become super twisted? like they have to speak a foreign language to communicate with each other..... I feel my sanity dropping trying to understand this whole framework

I mean... yeah? That's why there are so many separatist movements in India. The Sikhs and the Hindus don't share too much fraternal love, let alone all the Muslims in India.

India itself is only made possible by the British - there were so many different princely states and kingdoms before the British Raj, and now it ends up as a Frankenstein nation.

India is an extremely diverse multiethnic country, composed of dozens of ethnic groups speaking different languages. The level of genetic diversity in India exceeds that of the entire continent of Europe. No single ethnic group even comes close to making up a majority of the population of India. Ethnic groups in South India bear almost no resemblance to ethnic groups in North India.

Southern Indian populations are primarily descended from Ancestral Ancient South Indians that first settled in India 30,000 years ago. Northern Indians are mixed between ancient Iranian farmers that first migrated to the Indus Valley about 10,000 years ago and subsequent Indo European invaders that conquered North India between approximately 1800BC and 1500BC.

For the vast majority of Indian history, the southern and northern parts of India were not united as part of a single polity. North India would generally be under the rule of a single empire, whereas South India tended to be fragmented into multiple individual kingdoms, states, and/or tribal confederations. The rare cases where North and South India were united were generally brought about by external invaders. In fact, nearly all of the great empires that ruled over India were originally founded by foreign invaders: from the initial Indo-European invaders to the Hephalite Huns, Islamic Turks, Mongols, then finally the British (bringing the cycle of conquest full circle). Its interesting that so many of the nomadic peoples that were defeated by Chinese dynasties ended up founding many of the greatest of the empires to have ruled over India.

BJP Hinduvta nationalism is founded on a very historically inaccurate narrative of Indian history. According to Jai Hind nationalists, India is the birthplace of the Aryans (Indo Europeans), whom then went on to found great kingdoms and empires all throughout Europe. This false narrative also explains why India will always see itself as a part of the West, as they see themselves as essentially OG white people. In reality, Indians simply invented Westener Worship over 2500 years ago. Despite the attempts of Hinduvta ideology to craft a synthetic sense of shared national identity among India's diverse and disparate peoples, India remains an incredibly divided country.

That explains the obsession with having white servants.
