Lockheed Martin could be financially liable to DoD for unmet F-35 SDD requirements
"

    • The Pentagon could require Lockheed Martin to provide financial compensation for unmet F-35 SDD requirements
    • This is subject to negotiation as the two parties could, instead, agree to overperformance on a requirement in exchange"

As much as I hope that the Pentagon's generals would take this opportunity to grow a pair and demand that LM pay up it is more likely instead they will make ALIS (nope, it is called ODIN now, maybe we can rename it Thor in this next interration) 10 times more sensitive and annoying as a form of "overperformance" for a seat at the board 10 years from now.

for Flying Bricks

So my friend, you who have NO idea about vehicle maneuverability other than passenger aircraft and trains??? (going from bad to worse), have pre-judged the F-35's maneuverability based on what frame of reference???

The F-35 does NOT have OVT, and in general OVT fighters have a great advantage with thrust vectoring over a counterpart which is the same as without thrust vectoring???

The F-35 is highly maneuverable and highly departure resistant, able to be flown to 50 degrees AOA with impugnity, limited to 50 degrees after being flown to 73 degrees and recovered without departing ... no Fourth Generation aircraft has demonstrated that capability on pure aero dynamics alone, they may with OVT?? but not on thrust and lift generated by the engine/airframe combination.

Its likely that the F-35 will outmaneuver even the J-20 with its extremely large canards, we have seen the F-35 flown to its limits on the airshow circuit, we have NOT seen the J-20 flown in a similar manner. So I would suggest that its possible the Su-35, Su-57, and F-22 are more maneuverable, possibly some other Flanker variants equipped with OVT???

To suggest the F-35 is a "flying brick"?, honestly is far more illustrative of your overall lack of knowledge of fighter aircraft maneuverabilty, I'm rather doubtful you have ever even watched the outstanding RIAT 2018 F-35 flight demo flown by "Dojo"...

I agree with you that calling the F-35 a brick is not sustained on facts.

In a Heritage report, the F-35A's flight performance was rated against a number of platforms including the F-15C, F-15E and the F-16C. The ratings came from pilots who had actually flown both the F-35A and the comparative platforms. In other words, people who actually know what they are talking about. The F-35A performed well based on a number of measures and in particular against the F-16C.

good you stood up for the F-35, it's interesting recently LockMart/Pentagon PR went silent about revolutionary transformational game-changer, after two decades of hyping
