hey kibitz get your own numbers, backed by links connecting your numbers to the US Congress, or please don't quote me

are we "tense" Brother?? I could loan you a "chill pill"??? I have to confess that I'm extremely amused by your response to our Brother, who actually did read your post?? he's just trying to understand??? think of all the extremely negatively biased post's I've had to tolerate from you my friend on the F-35,, you'll always be my "real Brother",, no matter what, and when the EU goes out of business, you can come help me "work on the farm" and I'll take you flying!

anyway, I have to listen to you "pontificate" on the F-35 "kill ratio"? (are you maybe a little obsessive? yes, I am a "mental health professional"), you know damn well the USAF is NOT populated by "liars and cheats", its just not! ("paranoia", can make one "distrustful"), after all you're formative years were in the "Soviet Union"? it would make one tend to be a "skeptic"? no???

anyway, 5 Gens are damnably expensive, hideously expensive,,, (that's why the Chinese have 20 J-20's, and the Russians have 10 Su-57's that are airworthy), but worth every penny in the grand scheme of "keeping us free", and you as well Bro.. thank God, us "dumb American's" continue to "foot the bill" to keep everyone safe from tyranny at home! and abroad!

you can thank me later, sit back and have a Latte! remember your big brother has and ex-wife, a "new wife", (she's awesome, and awesome to look at too), and 7 daughter's,,, I think I'm gonna go take a "chill pill" myself, just thinking about it? well, that's part of the reason I had a triple by-pass 10 years ago, now I try to "relax"...

have a great day, come back to America, we need more hard working taxpayers such as yourself, then you can help me pay for these damn airplanes!

in fiscal 2020 because a future backlog was identified for the aircraft’s C-model, the service confirmed to Aerospace DAILY.

The service is purchasing both the B and C models of the aircraft. The Marine Corps anticipated purchasing 20 F-35Bs in fiscal 2020, but in the request the buy was cut by half to 10 jets. The fiscal 2020 budget proposal requests 10 F-35B and F-35C jets for the service.

The decision was made to reduce the B model buy and increase the C variant purchase to avoid a potential backlog, service spokesman Capt. Chris Harrison told Aerospace DAILY.

The U.S. Navy and Marine Corps announced Feb. 28 that the aircraft carrier variant of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter has met all requirements to operate in combat.

It is a deeply political and subjective post.

problem:
The US military is an aggressor one, designed to attack other countries, and to destroy military and civilian targets, including huge cities, those require massive amount of ordnance that needs cheap transport .

The military procurement , and the required characteristic of the air force require this requirements.

The US airforce has to operate in defended airspace ,where all sensor belong to the enemy, and with the current level of missile /radar technology they need everything possible to be able to deliver the 1000 of tons of ordnance that required to level a mayor city with lower than 5% mission loss.

The Chines/ Russian / Indian / German / Japanese and so on air force designed to protect the airspace, and to work under the coverage of friendly radars.

See the difference ? China doesn't need low observable aircraft for the 90% of the missions. (at the moment ,who know the future ? )

But the low observable carry high cost, so the US military tried to decrease it by increase the commonality of the aircrafts,

It failed badly. It didn't decreased the cost, but increased it.

Example they had to put billions of funding into the radar project of the F35 , to make a radar that can deliver similar characteristic like the irbis-e with smaller aperture and weight . Why ? because the common airframe restricted the weight and nose diameter. This is the way to burn money.

It is a deeply political and subjective post.
This is also one based on your Opinion.

The USAF has four functions just like any other.
1)Defence at home.
For this we are seeing the F15X buy, Missile defence and NORAD.
2) Logistics.
The back bone of operations both active and passive. Tankers transports and diners.
3) Space and Intelligence.
NORAD comes back as does the Space observation systems and maintenance of launches of satilites.
Flying observation and drones.
4) Offensive operations.
But this isn't just bombing enemy targets or attacking other nations against there will. This also includes support of other nations. Or patrolling and escorting other aircraft from their disputed claims.

Chines/ Russian / Indian / German / Japanese and so on air force designed to protect the airspace, and to work under the coverage of friendly radars.
Bull
They also train and organize for offensive operations same as anyone else. Whether patrolling a no fly zone or striking ISIS targets they are operating in an offensive mode.

China doesn't need low observable aircraft for the 90% of the missions.
USAF objective as stated by Heather Willson Secretary of the Air Force is a 50/50 mix. 50% VLO fifth gen 50% 4.5 standard conventional.
That's just the fighter force add in bomber force and transports and the numbers shift a little but not 90%.
Most of USAF operations vs "near Peer" is patrol and status que. Displays but not acts of power.

This is also one based on your Opinion.

The USAF has four function
Just to clarify.
The next things are NOT logical reasoning:

1. lack of logic
2. lack of consistency
3. not objectively analysing the facts.
4. answering without the slightest clue about the the given topic
5. fight for the last word in a discussion

Good starting point can be the analysis of the US military actions / foreign politics since Woodward Wilson in his infinite wisdom entered the first WW. Like what was the national interest (sum of the interest of all US citizens ), and what was the actions of Woodward . Objectively, and considering the killed enemy civilians as "humans " ( I know , it is an extreme thing to consider on a military forum or in the US politics )

That will give the reason why the US so perverted about low observable F-35, and why any discussion on this topics is revolving around "how to defeat the S-x00 air defence system" .

You know, not the s-300 air attack system : D

UK starts integration of Meteor, SPEAR missiles on F-35B fighter jets

UK defense contractor BAE Systems announced it has started work on the integration of Meteor air-to-air and SPEAR surface attack missiles on to the UK’s fleet of F-35B fighter jets.

As explained by the company, it has received an initial funding award from Lockheed Martin, the prime contractor on the F-35 program, to start integration efforts for the two MBDA-made missiles.

Under this initial package of work BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin will also complete further integration work with MBDA on ASRAAM and with Raytheon on Paveway IV, initially integrated in support of delivering initial operating capability for the UK.

“BAE Systems engineers played a crucial role in supporting the UK to achieve Initial Operating Capability for its F-35 fleet. Now, working alongside our partners including Lockheed Martin and MBDA, we are using our expertise to take that capability even further with advanced weapons systems such as Meteor and SPEAR,” said Tom Fillingham, senior vice-president – US Programs of BAE Systems.

Last year, a pilot from 17 Squadron, the RAF’s F-35 Test and Evaluation Squadron at Edwards Air Force Base, California took to the skies for the first time with UK weapons, including ASRAAM and Paveway IV.

This followed work carried out during the F-35 program’s System Development and Demonstration (SDD) initial testing phase to develop and certify weapons capabilities by an integrated test team. This team includes Lockheed Martin, BAE Systems, Raytheon and MBDA, working alongside the UK Air Warfare Centre to clear weapons for operational testing by Royal Air Force and Royal Navy pilots.
