re: F-35 Joint Strike Fighter Thread
The Japanese have six AEGIS destroyers and plenty of other smaller DDGs and FFGs to do so...not to mention their three Osumi LHDs. Soon the Japanese will have three LHDs (Osumii), two CVHs (Hyuga) and two CVLs (22DDH).
Here's what a JMSDF Carrier task force might look like:
I will take some time and put together a similar picture of a Korean one...and maybe later a Australian one for reference and post them here. I really believe the F-35B is going to revolutionize sea control carrier capabilities.
...and the video in the first post on this thread actually shows them operating off of an American Wasp class...which is really neat to actually see already happening as they test and qualify.
Yes, and with the 22DDH and the Dokdo, and with the F-35, I believe they both will have them. The Koreans are supposed to build one or two more Dokdos, and they already have three large AEGIS destroyers (more like cruisers) and other KDX vessels to escort them.the Koreans and Japanese both want a carrier air wing(s) without the hassle of CATOBAR/STOBAR operations
