An interesting article on the 3rd FW to Elmendorf in Alaska with beautiful pictures in the Arctic region, the 2 sqns have 22 and 24 F-22, 302th Reserve use those of others have only personnal.

Really it is a elegant fighter ! in addition to being the ultimate fighter.

Rear stealth very neat there he made the difference with the F-35, only YF-23 would have done better with more inclined drifts but without steering nozzles.

Thank you Master Forbin, I'm glad someone is still able to grasp the beauty of the F-22, and I am convinced that you are indeed right, in fact I continue to call the F-22, the alien bird?? (tongue in cheek reference to the movie Independence Day), love Will Smith's quote, "I gots to get me one of dees!", I feel the same way about the Raptor....

Elegant is an apt descriptor of this pretty airplane, love the T-50, J-20, FC-31, and even the F-35 which has a more muscular beauty! like a chick that works out, at first like Huummmm, then you begin to see her charms and graces.

Amen, Brat.

I loved seeing the new J-20 "2016," and the Chinese should be very proud and she is a beautiful bird.

But it just does not get any better than that Raptor eye candy.

I saw the Russians quoted what Dave :) had said in The National Interest most recently:
The second factor to consider is that the Raptor’s avionics were dated even before the jet was declared operational in December 2005. While the Raptor is the most advanced operational warplane in the Air Force’s inventory, its computer architecture dates back to the

. The core processors run at 25MHz–since it took so long to get the jet from the design phase to production. Moreover, the Raptor’s software is particularly obtuse and difficult to upgrade–which is partly why integrating the AIM-9X and AIM-120D missiles onto the aircraft has been so problematic. The jet’s avionics would have to be completely revamped for a production restart, not just because they’re obsolete, but also because the jet’s antique processors and other components haven’t been made in decades. That would be a very expensive proposition at a time when the Air Force’s budgets are shrinking.
