Germany selects Boeing F/A-18 Super Hornet to replace aging Tornado. The deciding factor was the B61 thermonuclear bomb which is stationed as part of NATO's strategic Nuclear missions. Since cold war, NATO maintains 190 Nuclear bombs in Germany.

in kind of whistle-past-the-graveyard,
French, German leaders provide fresh top cover for new warplane, tank projects

there's a great sentence inside [I had made a snickering (?) sound while reading it]:
"The aircraft and tank projects made it into the Toulouse declaration only in passing, expressed in the typical diplomatic rhetoric of bilateral enthusiasm meant to mask whatever problems brew underneath."

U.S.-Trying-to-Counter-Frances-Frigate-Offer-to-Greece-with-4-MMSC-770x410.jpeg

The United States is seemingly proposing four MMSC vessels to the Hellenic Navy as an alternative to the two FDI frigates deal proposed by France, a local media is reporting.

Another short delay for the Dutch Navy Walrus-class submarine replacement program
Another-short-delay-Dutch-Navy-Walrus-class-submarine-replacement-program-770x410.jpg

The Dutch Secretary of State Barbara Visser still hopes to make a decision this year on the Walrus-class submarines replacement, she recently confirmed to the country’s House of Representatives.

According to Dutch media AD.nl which first published the information yesterday, the long awaited « B-Letter » will announce which company or companies will be allowed to participate in the definition phase. Some imprecise words that could mean a further delay in this 3.5 billion Euros program.

MMSC for Hellenic Navy: No, the cost is not € 2 billion, it is double the amount
MMSC-for-Hellenic-Navy-No-the-cost-is-not-%E2%82%AC-2-billion-it-is-double-the-amount-770x410.jpg

Since the first announcement of the US position through the so-called P&A (Price and Availability) which reportedly was priced at 2 billion euros for four vessels and follow on support (FOS), we had expressed serious reservations. In keeping with our public information ethics, the issue has been further explored in terms of the cost of those ships as we reiterate that in every respect, the price of 2 billion euros for the vessels, their weapons and their FOS is insanely low.
