yeah I think it's nothing big, as the Italian group just sailed round Africa! (I'm serious, the journey started in mid-November, 2013, they paid visit to many ports, exercised like here: http://www.sinodefenceforum.com/world-armed-forces/aircraft-carriers-ii-284-3125.html#post274159 etc.) ... they're almost home now

Yes the Italian navy is very capable and I would rank them only behind the UK and France

In the coming years we will see Turkey also the join the club of operating flat tops and could get to the level surpassing Spain (who are broke anyway) and then Italy

Italy in my opinion should have put in a tender for the Turkish LHD project and I am sure Turkey would go for it

Great shot any picture which could include the Mistral Class or HMS Ocean? Now that would be something four nations four flat tops

That's a really neat system, this VULCONO gun. Some long range precision arty with a decent punch. I hope it'll find it's way onto a few more platforms in the future.
I'm still a little sad they didn't fit the Pzh2000 turret on the F125, though, and developed a similar capability for that. But the 127mm will probably also fit on ships a littel smaller.
Still, for the mission of that ship, something bigger would have been nice. The next bigger thing would already be the RBS15 Mk4. Something like a GMLRS and Polyphem would also have been a nice idea.
