ADIZ was probably set up by China to gauge the reaction of other nations so China can adjust its overall stratedgy in line with the response they have receieved, I have a feeling everyone else jus fell for this trap China laid down

CCP is not stupid they are very clever they didn't think just a few months ahead they plan for years and years ahead

Western nations especially BBC and CNN are making it look like US, Japan and South Korea just disobeyed Chinas "no fly zone" and that China has done nothing about it

However the better educated ones here know what the score, the reaction of others has not gone unnoticed by the CCP

Also, with regards to the US ADIZ, while technically they state that aircraft not intending to enter US airspace do not have to abide by ADIZ rules, in practice this is often not the case.

Meanwhile in actual practice the U.S. does attempt to apply its external ADIZ to military aircraft which pass through its extended ADIZ without intending to enter U.S. sovereign territory.
A U.S. Air Force university dissertation states:
These regulations do not pertain to military aircraft, but to enter US airspace, without inducing the scrambling of fighter interceptors, these rules must be complied with and followed. The US does not claim sovereignty over these zones per se, but does closely monitor and request information of all objects entering the zone.

The media can holler and bash their trashcan drums as loudly as they want. They can get high off their propaganda victories, that is fine.
However so long as China says it is still there, that achieves China's goals. Eventually the media and the world will get used to the ADIZ.

Although I wonder if the media spouting this misinformation is a product of ignorance or malevolence, whether they truly believe in what they say because they're just badly informed, or if they truly know the score card but is willing to lie and change it? Possibly both.

Latest News, China starts regular patrol of ADIZ with KJ-2000, Su-30 and J-11. So far Chinese reaction are within what I have expected. From the first 100 bird drill a few years, I have a feel PLAAF want to up its readiness, now it can go on patrol all the way to first island chain (and practice with foreign combat aircraft) all with in context of defense and being reactive to foreign aggressiveness.

"Puppet master?" Seriously dude, if you want to be insulted, then any actions will serve, but if you calm down and rationally think about US response, then you see US actions was rather mild. Consider we could have MASSIVELY escalated the situation by sending two B2s, escorted by four F-22s, and you know damn well our Air Force could EASILY do that. Consider all the complex issues US leaders had to balance; to name just a few:

- American people's reactions and domestic politics (the GOP would accuse Obama of being weak if he did nothing but talk)
- Pacify Japan to prevent Shinzo Abe from taking actions on his own that could increase tensions even more
- Reassure China's nervous neighbors that America has their backs
- Signal to China that US response is measured and designed to get the best outcome out of a potentially explosive situation

Facts are, we're a Pacific nation as well as an Atlantic one. Asia is where the action is, and the US was, is, and always will be around to pursue our national interests.

It is reported that Korea notified Japan of its patrol, but didn't notify China and will not do so in the future. Is this because of China's overlapping ADIZ with Korea's ADIZ and Korea want to strengthen/ repeat their "claim" of their ADIZ?
