Cyber Warfare

Here's an article that contradicts an earlier one that said Chinese hackers weren't up there with the best.

That's an interesting article, so the US, China, Russia, and Israel are the best hackers in the world than. No surprise there. Although I expected Germany and Japan to be mention on the list, but weren't according to the article .

Well I'm having touble accessing the PDF file. Internet Explorer crashes on me and on Chrome it doesn't fully load. Hmmmmm.

The fact is they need one entity to focus on and China again is the scapegoat. I'm sure the Chinese are hacking but just like everyone else. Before China, you would hear about industrial espionage from the US's own allies. The US likes how the media gives them credit for Stuxnet and Flame. By their own words they are committing an act of war. Before the age of electronic money the US engaged in counterfeiting to destroy an enemy's economy. What's the difference? And do we believe the US is not planning and testing cyber warfare aka Stuxnet and Flame?

It's interesting that the media is using Obama's State of the Union speech where he mentions enemies of the US are hacking key US infrastructure. So does that mean the US has declared China an official enemy? The media likes being anal on language so why aren't they going around saying Obama has offically declared China an enemy of the US? Because the media is again hyping things out to be more than it is than just China being the only culprit. I read that some companies that were being hacked aren't coming out publicly in fear that China would shut them out of their market. So being run out of business is easier to take than saving your business? Why doesn't the media just out them? It didn't stop them from naming registered gun owners after the Newtown school shooting. Of course it's just another gun to the head excuse to cover-up the illogic of the argument. It's like Donald Trump railing against outsourcing to China yet his signature line of products are all outsourced mostly to China. He's basically saying Americans are dumb to believe that Mr. Silver Spoon New York tough guy is being intimidated by the Chinese to force him to outsource and not because he's a greedy hypocrite. China has stolen untold billions of dollars through hacking? Isn't that an act of war on top of China putting a gun to the heads of US companies to outsource to China yet they do nothing about it?

When the hacking of the NYTimes story came out I was reading the comments and most of them were angry not that China was hacking. They were more angry that they weren't hearing about US cyber warfare exploits because in spite of playing victim Westerners in general think they do everything better.

Problem is the Chinese government goes into defensive mode instead of going on the offensive and accuse the US of its hacking into China. By defending accusations made by the Americans, China is giving America moral superiority as if China has to prove to America that China is not a threat. China has to put the Americans on the defensive by reminding them of their history of hacking into China and things like stuxnet and flame viruses. America is the biggest hacker into China according to the Chinese government.
This is a media war, China needs to give information on American hacking into China. China don't need to prove anything to anyone.

Actually by keeping tabs at the accuser for being wrong so many times can be useful for China in the long run. It became historical evidence that the accuser has no credibility to back their current claim.

I was only kidding about something strange with the PDF file. Apparently someone embedded the Mandiant file with viruses. Well reading the article in the link above it sounds like Mandiant is as usual just looking to make money. They are a internet security firm that makes money from cyber threats. It's the new way to make money these days. Remember months ago there was suppose to be a bacon shortage to which then people started stockpiling bacon? I've been reading the critiques coming out of Mandiant's flawed methods to make their conclusions.

Not many people is going to think the report is wrong. From what I've seen, most people actually thought that the report was accurate, including most Chinese in China hearing this news. I bet 99.99% of the audience will never read the full report, not to mention spotting the shabby methodology Mandiant used to reach its conclusion. Ordinary people just take in the conclusion as it was being reported in the news, and they will believe it as long as it matches their belief system. Mandiant made great PR with this, politicians can use it to boost their agenda, the media have something to create hype and catch eyeballs for a while, this is how things will end up. There maybe some people who's "keeping tabs at the accuser for being wrong", but they're never going to represent how the majority thinks because the majority always care more about what they want to hear instead of what is accurate and true.
