CV-18 Fujian/003 CATOBAR carrier thread

Yes I know the location of the shipyards. I was specifically talking about the possibility of moving modules to Dalian for final assembly there.

I do think it's possible that the modules for the second 003 is already under construction somewhere in Shanghai, but since this is from fzgfzy (and even he wasn't saying with confidence. He says "if there is indeed a second 003, it could be already under construction"), I wouldn't take this idea seriously until some more creditable sources confirm it.

Don't think Dalian needs it. The area has enough factories. Although I don't think Dalian would be doing carriers. They might be preoccupied with destroyers and civilian ships like tankers, which is a DSC specialty.

What fzgfzy said in that post was after Dalian is qualified to produce nuclear powered ships (he said in 2-3 years), Dalian will be producing the first nuclear powered 004. However he said it could be in a new place, not necessarily where Shandong was built.

Again it's fzgfzy so...

I would disagree I think DL would be doing carriers

DL for years was suspected and rumoured to build DDG+ CG and finally after many years the Type 052D + Type 055 appeared there

also if China wanted to dedicate only yard to build carrier DL wouldn't have built CV-17

I think China wants multiple yards to build carriers, DDG and CG, well mainly two shipyards JNCX+ DL, these are the premier shipyards of China

I strongly recommend we give fzgfzy the same treatment as Minnie Chan and sorts.

Many members here seems to still regard him as a source with potentially some inside info with certain degree of credibility but forgive my rudeness this person is a piece of shit and I mean it. He is a fraudster and liar who make up claims and prediction while purposefully and aggressively trolling only to gather attention and gain personal fame.

There is a clear pattern of his behavior. First he would make ambiguous little chat sometimes even "riddles" to build his persona as a mysterious insider. Then he routinely drop a "prophecy" list in which half predictions in it are common knowledge already, rest of them low risk guesstimate, finally among these sneak in his own more ambitious opinion about hot and controversial topic. And then some time later he would dig up his prophecy and say how he hit most marks (of course most are no brainer) and after enough tries hit the jackpot on important matters (this is how his reputation came).

Or that's how he used to do years ago. Nowadays he's blinded by fame and ego becoming even more arrogant and aggressive. Apparently he is a moderate on cjdby so he would highlight his every holy post and abuse moderate power on those who disagree. He and his toxic cult would viciously attack others who point out flaw in his logic or dig up his old claim showing he eat his own word. When prove wrong he's basically Trump, first deny, then accuse other being non-intelligent, after that try to distract people with his other achievement.

It's pathetic we here on sdf spend last five pages to seriously discuss a random post from a intentionally fanboy troll.

Dalian isn't as premier as Hudong Zhonghua and Jiangnan, and both these yards at adjacent to each other, if referring to HDZ's Changxian extension. In addition, Changxing has a third shipyard, Shanghai Waigaiqiao, right next to the other two. The result you have here is a megacomplex, with multiple drydocks that can build a number of carriers simultaneously. You have to consider that this megacomplex while building the carrier, is currently building any number of 400 meter long containerships which are some of the largest ships ever built in the world, while also building 300 meter long LNG carriers for the Yamal LNG trade. The basin where the modules were first set, that's right next to the HDZ's extension, if not it is on the HDZ side of the island, and its right next to where the wharf where HDZ moored its finished LNG carriers for fitting, and its where the 075 had a stopover. The drydocks in Changxian can accommodate multiple carriers to be built simultaneously if needed. Your limiting factors would be money, how much powerplants you can make, how much crews and pilots you can generate. Dalian on the other hand, only has two large drydocks, and one would be used to make destroyers. If you want to make two carriers simultaneously, its actually easier to do both in Changxian which has the redundant capacity, scale and centralization. You let Dalian concentrate and build 052D and 055 on both drydocks. You can make Dalian do post 003 carriers but in my view, it would be less efficient since they have to tool for it as these ships are different from the Liaoning-Shandong.

Hopefully they can retool Dalian over time for building CV. Where does that leave the Guangdong shipyards? It looks like they are just building type 056 and type 054. With twice the population of Korea, they can potentially double the size of Korea's shipbuilding industry, by building more 052d, 055, 075, LNG carriers, LNG powered containers, luxury cruise liners and eventually CV.

If so, it would probably be at the Changxing Island (somewhere in Wafangdian county-level city under Dalian administration, with a similar name to JNCX) branch of Dalian Shipyard.
Currently Dalian Shipyard's facilities involving in buliding military products are too close to the downtown area . No one would want to manufacture a nuclear reactor there.
