How are you so sure Deino's photo is new?

It may not be the latest but it's definitely newer. In addition to Intrepid's post, the icebreaker, Xuelong 2, is another clue which is clearly visible in Deino's photo. Since it's launch, the ship has moved to the opposite side, closer to the caisson, of the dry dock in which it was built in. I'm using the gantry crane, that cylindrical building and green space as reference. IMO, the beginnings of excavation (for the new dock) is shown in your posted photo, while in Deino's photo, the dry dock which the Xuelong 2 is berthed is clearly developed.

The photo may be the latest to be posted in Chinese forums, but I believe the photographer had taken a picture of the expansion a while ago, and only found the time to post it now.

but there is no way to transport those big Moduls from the fabrication area to the drydock at the other side of the yard.

What about that road? It's a clear path from the assembly area to dry dock. On Google Map, the gantry crane North of the dry dock appears to extend to that 6-lane road. However, I'm not sure if that bridge can take such a heavy load. I suppose if they build the modules small enough to transport via flat bed.

including a bridge between - how much load could carry the bridge?
Another unknown unfortunately. IMO, Intrepid's interpretation is correct. For some reason the shipyard is taking their time in completing the assembly area.

Or they use the steam catapult to upgrade Liaoning and her sistership. The former Varyag is reportet to be prepared for catapults. But I am sure, not for EMALS but for steam because the preparation was planned 30 years ago.
