On November 26th, the Type 003 aircraft carrier Fujian (18)" conducted an electromagnetic catapult ejection test and was said to have succeeded. (via wb/@风Qing颂)

That guy who videotaped Fujian while the catapult test is underway is really one damn lucky guy...

This does look legit, and I'm also impressed they were able to catch it on a video on a flight that happened to overfly it.

Very lucky -- unless of course, there have been multiple such tests in recent days and they just happened to catch one of them on video.

For those who cannot see the twitter video embedded or who don't want to open the link, here's four of the frames depicting the splash pattern over the few second long video and also the movement of the plane over the shipyard.

Does the distance that dead load reached after being catapulted, comparing with that from Ford class might compare the efficiency and capacity of 2 systems (Fujian vs Ford)?

That is impossible to tell because you'd need to know a whole bunch of unknowables like mass of the dead load, setting of the catapult, the power generation and storage side of things (internal for the ship).

So it's probably better to not even consider that we can ever have a good answer to the question of anything like "comparable efficiency/capacity".
