I remember the days when the rusty Varyag was towed to the shipyard and many people thought that the Chinese would never manage to build up their own carrier force without outside help. Now they are halfway there and the doomsayers have stopped blaspheming: yes, they will do it! They are pursuing their path with determination, calmness and good structure. Project management at its finest, spanning generations.

It has large optical detectors on the deck level and AESA radars for CIWSes. These are very probably in response to the LRASM and JSM.
I annotated examples here. The green circle is for an AESA radar intended for the Type 1130. The red circles are for optical systems.
