My point is the pilots are likely already very experienced before carrier training.
That's not the case for regular fixed wing carrier pilots for a while now.
We know from official news a few years ago (mid to late 2010s) that all new carrier aviators would have their own dedicated training pathway, rather than being land based pilots that then transitioned to being carrier based pilots.
The initial naval aviators for the PLAN were of course experienced land based pilots first, but once they had their own flight training pathway to train their own aviators, it was no longer necessary to convert land based pilots.
Also I'm not sure if you've been following the conversation. We weren't talking about general carrier pilots for the PLAN, but rather the initial cadre of pilots for CV-18's initial airwing.
