Note it's LiaoNing (16) in the picture.
It would be overestimating to think CCTV reporters might understand what military fans might expect and do things smart enough.

The top image shows the current state of the dry docks. The bottom image shows the arrangement after the operation completes.

I don't think the carrier will be launched on May 31st. This operation is merely a preparation for her launch at a later day. According to a fairly credible Weibo user, the carrier should be launched sometime in early June, either on the 6th or 7th.

We'll have to wait and see, but I'd be very happy to be proven wrong.
