probably only the US (of course) and now China have that capability currently to have that many fighters operating on the deck. I haven't seen the British and the French have that many fighters on the deck .. not Russian ..... let alone others (India, Spain, Italia, Brazil, Thai, etc)

Also remember that J-15 is a huge aircraft

The designers team of Shandong would definitely make their effort to optimize the deck space and enlarge the hangar as much as possible. I don't think the designers team would completely ignore the request for carrying more aircrafts and leave the hangar space same as Liaoning.
The pictures of the ship's construction and the inside of the hangar clearly show that Liaoning and Shandong have the same hangar. Both hangars end on the same frame at the front.

Yeah, 35 (including 30 Rafales) was the most the French ever operated off CDG. I don't actually think it makes sense for PLAN to operate 30 J-15s off CV-16. This configuration is probably the most J-15s they'd want to be flying off CV-16 in a regular deployment. Maybe they will keep a couple of more J-15s in the hangar as spares or repairs.

Also, remember that J-15 is about 70% bigger than Rafael M

Actually no one saw ex-Liaoning or Varyag's picture of hangar construction. When Liaoning was under refitting its superstructure and bow were cut down, new ones were installed but the main deck was not dismantled.

I think there is insufficient proof to conclude that Shandong has same hangar space as Liaoning.
