I wonder if Beijing even pays attention to something like this. You give them a bone and they'll turn it against you. Biden opened the floodgates when he politically gave credibility to the rehashed lab-leak story from the same people from the Trump administration by calling for further investigation. And now the US is implicated because they funded research in Wuhan into making coronaviruses more infectious. Now more than ever they will lie for politics so Beijing better not be thinking people are going to see it their way.

Is this yet another case of the USA screwing up more then usual, because it sounds like they may have done some small research of an unknown kind in Wuhan (something I doubt we will ever know), took the data back to the USA and tried to frame China to basically try and bring China down.

Beijing thinks like the Democrats. Both see some romanticized outcome that all will see their way and it never turns out that way. I don't how much of this is true but recently the Western media was mocking how Xi wants to portray a more "lovable" image of China. If true, that's a joke. Western culture does at all see Chinese as being lovable. The Democrats always have some storybook ending to everything they want to do and Republicans only see them as child molesters. There's a disconnect with reality there.

Everything at this points to some degree of collusion between the WiV and various organizations in the US (which includes Fauci).

The reaction we are observing at this time is the "right hand figuring out what the left hand is doing". A lot of this research was clearly done under the nose of most of the American government.
