Austria has chartered 2 planes to directly bring back 130 tonnes of medical equipment, including masks and overalls, which it has ordered from China, to distribute as a priority to the Tyrol region. The 2 AUA Boeing 777s are scheduled to arrive Monday afternoon.

Anlsvrthng accused China of falsified data which I think it is totally justified accusation. At the same time, if Chinese members accuse other countries of falsified data, then it should also be allowed.

"80% of cases are mild, about 14% are severe, and about 6% become critically ill." That's Chinese data. So according to Chinese data, at least 6% of patients require ICU.

For comparison, NYC at the moment 4.56% of patients require ICU and if you included the 50 deaths which would increase it to 5.2%. So I think as long as patients have received good care(Have enough nurses and doctors) and actions are taken early enough. Many of them might not require ICU. But if the hospitals are overwhelmed like Wuhan and Italy, it could mean many patients would end up needing ICU. And many of them would not survive. The mortality rate in Wuhan is like 5.8% but the mortality outside of Hubei is around 1%.

As of 6 p.m. Saturday, coronavirus sickened 2,484 people in Brooklyn, 2,254 people in Queens, 1,868 in Manhattan, 1,071 in the Bronx and 437 in Staten Island, the mayor’s office said. 8,115 people in total. At least 1,450 people were hospitalized, including 370 people in intensive care units.

Yeah, I wouldn't compare NYC ICU data with other places. I'm a physician who used to work in NYC at one of their major medical centers. My wife worked in another one of the major hospitals there. NYC's ICU admission criteria is very, very strict. A lot of people who'd normally be admitted to the ICU pretty much anywhere else in the world would end up on the regular floors in NYC due to a lack of ICU beds. I've had plenty of patients on ventilators, pressors, and various other drips on the floors. That won't happen in most other places.

American medical institutions are ordering large quantities of ventilators from China.

One case of virus fatality proved not to be the coronavirus, but the hantavirus, a family of viruses transmitted by rodents. 32 people in the same base are now being tested.

US military planning to build field hospitals in the most stricken areas. Should already be doing this since last week.

if this is true, it would be simply insane!
That's normal. With any epidemic/pandemic, the true infected population is always far far higher than the recorded/documented cases because most people aren't sick enough to be hospitalized or may be entirely asymptomatic. For example, in the US, swine flu was recorded at the hundred thousand case range while the estimated truly infected population was over 60 million.

A look at mandatory quarantine for returning expats and Chinese nationals. First hand look at the screening protocols.

Gweilo60 is an Canadian expat YouTuber married to a Chinese national and calls Nanning his home. Left China with his wife for south east Asia at the height of the Covid 19 crisis there, but changed their minds returning to Canada and instead heads back to Nanning. His wife is a recovering cancer survivor. His vlog describes his travel from Thailand back to Nanning and into mandatory 14 day quarantine. Quarantine is some hotel you are going to be stuck with for 14 days, and they also make you pay a discounted rate for it.

Jayoe Nation is another expat Youtuber based in Ningbo. He left China with his family back to Chicago and after staying there for a while, decided to return to Ningbo with his family. Previous videos documents his trip from Chicago, to a 20 hour Hong Kong stopover, finally, to Shanghai and Ningbo quarantine.

Not really, in fact that would be expected actually, because the majority of infections only result in mild symptoms, so most people that get it should be able to get over it by themselves. Many may not even realise they have it.

That is part of the reason why this virus has been so hard to contain, and why full lockdowns are the only effective way to contain its spread. But the flip side is it means in pretty much every country, there will be a lot of undiagnosed mild cases that doesn’t require medical intervention.

Having potentially 10 times the number of infected doesn’t mean suffering 10 times the current number of deaths.
