Coronavirus 2019-2020 thread (no unsubstantiated rumours!)

Quickie

Colonel
I read through the thread, no age-stratified rates. This is basic epidemiology and biostatistics 101 (I have a masters in public health), you have to adjust for age in any correlation or causation study.

In the photo, it literally says: "Of 5,888 deaths reported, .... 39% occurred in people who became ill within 48 hours of vaccination"

So they died of COVID before the vaccine was able to take effect. (Full vaccination is two weeks post-second dose). These people got sick within 48 hours of first shot. These people didn't die directly from the vaccine, but from COVID.

So the remaining 61% (n=3,591) is vaccine-related deaths out of 155,000,000 vaccinated people is only 0.00231%. That's neglible compared to COVID case fatality rate of 1.8%. In fact, COVID is almost 800X more deadly than the COVID vaccine itself.

I think "became ill" refers to any kind of illness within 48 hours of vaccination. That is not a huge number out of 155,000,000.

The UK published the numbers on vaccinated vs unvaccinated deaths for the new Delta variant.

Tabulation of the data reveals that the vaccinated were MORE LIKELY to die than the unvaccinated.

What is going on with these injections?

Look at the last row, Age group >50. More vaccinated patients died from Covid than the unvaccinated!

Has anyone here taken the Sinovac or Sinopharm vaccines? Does the second shot of the Chinese vaccines result in strong side effects like the mRNA vaccines?

My parents took those, they both felt very sleepy after the first dose, iirc for about two days, but barely felt anything after the second dose.

Taiwan Covid update.

After anxiously scouring the world (other than the mainland), Taiwan was gifted 3.742 million shots from Japan (1.24 million), US (2.5 million) and Lithuania (20k). Taiwanese are ecstatic with relief for now, especially with the grandstanding by US senators who flew into Taipei in a C17 to make the pledge. Still, assuming 2 doses per vaccination, less than 8% of its population will be inoculated and this is far less than most of, say, South East Asian countries. Desperation levels will return unless more shots come in, all the best to them!

Didn't Japan say they're going to give them another million?
Of course it was kind of like "oh 200 people died after getting the vaccine we gave you last time? Here have another million" which I'm not really sure is actually helping or intended to be an insult.
