Any chance when or if they can ever ramp up production number close to even half of their targets(150) The production/delivery numbers so far have been really really slow .China Southern Airlines has received its 12th C919 at Shanghai Pudong and will be joining the fleet at Guangzhou Baiyun tomorrow. This marks the 10th C919 delivered in 2026 and also the 42nd C919 delivered overall since its service entry in May 2023 (3+ years).

Capacity doesn't equal to production, they were expanding capacity for assembly only at COMAC Shanghai but that doesn't mean all of it will be used due to a variety of issues with the supply chain.Any chance when or if they can ever ramp up production number close to even half of their targets(150) The production/delivery numbers so far have been really really slow .
Yeah I know. I think I was talking about their own production targets from last year. I guess the point @ACuriousPLAFan made about supply chains issues and indigenous engine gets sorted is more likely the case for the low number of production . Since there’s no way they can’t even reach half of their own targets if those issues weren’t presentCapacity doesn't equal to production, they were expanding capacity for assembly only at COMAC Shanghai but that doesn't mean all of it will be used due to a variety of issues with the supply chain.
if you read my old massages. i have said one thing, COMAC will not mass produce C919 until supply chain issue resolve.Any chance when or if they can ever ramp up production number close to even half of their targets(150) The production/delivery numbers so far have been really really slow .
That’s something new. Didn’t know they were building a second assembly line for C919.if you read my old massages. i have said one thing, COMAC will not mass produce C919 until supply chain issue resolve.
despite supply chain issues COMAC still aggressively expanding the production capacity. second C919 assembly line has large integrated production facilities and currently under construction. after completion total narrow body airliner annual assembling capacity will reach around 300+ units.
CXF C919 variant is just around the corner. you will see the scale up production once the aircraft get certification.
this is why COMAC is going mostly with domestic components/parts for C929.
I think the C919 is probably the more critical project though. There is an insane demand for airliners in China, especially narrow-bodies. A widebody jet is important, just not as important. That’s something new. Didn’t know they were building a second assembly line for C919.
The project I’m looking forward to the most is actually C929. This should be a game changer if carried out successfully. It’s good to know they are finally opting for mostly domestic components, dynamics of world geopolitics has changed unlike when C919 was conceived . Can’t reply on mostly western components anymore . It’s a matter of time before they also placed ban or restrictions on those, like with Russia.
We are seeing transatlantic flights using A321 XLRs. Besides the limited range by narrow body, the limited space inside these sub 4 meter diameter planes negatively impacts the comfort for long range travel. AFAIK, C919 has the widest cabin, except the MC-21 even if it is small margins. If the subsequent iterations can increase the range, it can well serve destinations around 5000 nautical miles.I think the C919 is probably the more critical project though.
